Marlborough Town & Country Fair
The Marlborough Town & Country Fair was due to be held in the beautiful and prestigous grounds of Marlborough College on Saturday 21st July 2007.
Unfortunately unprecedented rain and storms meant that the ground became saturated to dangerous levels during Friday.
The organisers took the decision on Friday afternoon to cancel the event in the interests of safety of the public and exhibitors and potential severe damage to the grounds.
This was a very difficult decision given the level of enthusiasm and publicity that had been generated, together with the hard work of the team of organisers and volunteers.
However, the only ones who would have been comfortable in the conditions were the ducks on the Water Meadows.
No event is planned for 2008, however it may be possible to consider holding a Fair in 2009, watch this space!
