The Community Area Plan highlights the fact that the Marlborough Community Area attracts a wide range of customers from both the surrounding area and more distant centres including trade through tourism.

Locally however, business support networks have been seen as poor and among businesses there has been a perceived lack of a sense of belonging to the Marlborough Community.

Business premises are in short supply and this restricts the creation of new business and business expansion. Out-commuting from Marlborough is significantly high, and full-time job opportunities in the Community Area are fewer than the Wiltshire average

MADT is seeking to address some of these issues through:

• Organisation of Networking Events - an Annual Business Networking Dinner and regular Business Breakfasts are held.


• Support for local groups - MADT actively supports the Marlborough Area Women's Business Network.

• Providing business support and assistance including the delivery of On-line and Off-line Marketing workshops to help small local businesses with their promotion and market research.


• Low-cost rental of presentation equipment and other items to help small businesses and community groups.
